What is UFV Online?
UFV has been offering online courses since 1994. Over 10,000 people have participated in various courses and workshops. Our online courses are taught by our regular faculty and upon successful completion, courses can be used as credit towards a certificate, diploma or degree.
Courses are offered on a semester basis with specific start and end dates. Generally there are assigned weekly activities and the students should commit to log on at least three times per week, at the time of their choosing.
Online learning is a means to provide alternate access to those in our traditional geographic region and beyond who have work, family or lifestyle commitments that have been barriers to their learning.
Instructors and students who have participated in online courses have offered the following advantages to online learning:
- Freedom to travel, work or cover other commitments and yet maintain a classroom presence
- Flexible time schedules
- Ability to discuss topics with fellow students beyond classroom time
- Useful for group projects, collaboration, peer learning, and extensive discussion
We have learned that online learning is a powerful tool for participation and our course design reflects this. If you enrol in an online course prepare to get involved...this is NOT correspondence.
