The Indigenous Affairs Office was established in the Summer of 2009 in response to the recommendations of the Aboriginal Community Council and the Indigenizing Goals and Actions document.

The Office reports to the Provost and Vice-President, Academic and is the primary point of contact in the development of a Department of Indigenous Affairs at the university.

The Senior Advisor on Indigenous Affairs advises and works with senior management and faculty on the:

  1. Development of Indigenous programs.
  2. Recruitment and retention of Aboriginal faculty and staff
  3. Recruitment and retention of Aboriginal learners
  4. Development of strong linkages and relationships with Aboriginal communities
