UCFV to host provincial collegiate basketball championships

 The 2002 provincial basketball championships for the BC Colleges Athletic Association will be hosted in Abbotsford by the University College of the Fraser Valley.

This year's event will take place Thursday to Saturday, March 7–9, at the Columbia Bible College's gym in west Abbotsford (2940 Clearbrook Road.) Game times have been scheduled for 2, 4, 6, & 8 p.m. each day, with the women's teams playing in the 2 & 6 p.m. slots, and the men at 4 & 8 p.m.

Currently, the BCCAA league schedule is half completed, with both UCFV teams in first place. The top six teams in the women's and men's divisions will advance to provincials.

The gold medal winners from the provincial tournament advance to the Nationals, March 20 to 23, in Calgary for the women, and in Truro, Nova Scotia, for the men. As well, a second B.C. team may qualify for the nationals by winning the wild-card designation.
