Consul General to speak at UCFV on
Canada/U.S. Relations
Roger Simmons,
Canada’s Consul General in Seattle,
Washington, will speak on Canada/U.S. trading opportunities
and relations at the University
College
of the Fraser
Valley
on Wednesday, October 16.
The free presentation is open to the
public and will include a Q&A session. It will be held in the Abbotsford
campus lecture theatre B101 from
2:30–3:30 pm.
Refreshments will be provided.
The Honourable Roger Simmons, P.C., was
appointed
Canada’s Consul General for Seattle
in August, 1998, bringing to Seattle
a wealth of experience in education, small business,
publishing, and public service. He has a keen interest in political, border,
trade, environmental, and resource issues essential to Canada’s concerns in his four-state
territory
of
Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. While in
Seattle, he has worked to resolve the Pacific salmon dispute, repeal
a restrictive
United States
border measure, expand regional economic links, and advance Canada’s position on other trans-boundary issues.
