Get some direction with UCFV education/career fair

What are you going to do for the rest of your life? Or the foreseeable future? Many people are considering career changes these days. Whether you're looking for a new job, or to upgrade your education, you can explore options at Directions 2002, the first ever career and education fair hosted by the University College of the Fraser Valley.

Directions runs on the Abbotsford campus from Feb 26 to 28, and over 40 employers will be on hand to recruit employees and provide information about their company, agency, or organization. UCFV departments will also be on hand to provide information about their certificate, degree, and diploma programs.

Types of employers will include police departments, financial service providers, health authorities, government agencies, fire departments, information technology companies, and local and overseas teaching agencies.

Members of the general public are invited to come and browse the many booths.

The first day of Directions 2002 on Tuesday, Feb 26, will run feature a special information and recruitment event for careers in Criminal Justice and Computer Information Systems. This session is open to UCFV students and the community, and will be held in the new Student Activity Centre from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The general career and education fair, showcasing a variety of employers, agencies, and UCFV programs runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb 27, in the Student Activity Centre and at locations around campus. UCFV students and the general public are welcome to visit all day.

The fair continues on Thursday, February 28, from 9 a.m to 2:30 p.m., with visits from high school students. UCFV students and the general public are also welcome to visit all day.

Other components of Directions 2002 include Alumni Inspirations, an alumni mentoring event; a conference to inform educational advisors about UCFV programs and services; and specific recruitment and information sessions offered by a variety of employers.

Admission to Directions 2002 is free.
