CCAA announces 2003 All-Canadians for basketball
The Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) announced today its basketball All-Canadians at the CCAA Women's Basketball Championship's All-Canadian Banquet hosted by Nova Scotia Agricultural College in Truro, Nova Scotia. All-Canadian award winners are selected by each
conference. Selections are based on the performance of the individual, and his/her contribution to their sport and individual team.CCAA All-Canadians — Women's Basketball 2003

Our 2003 CCAA Women's Basketball All-Canadians
Starting on the west coast: From the University College of the Fraser Valley — Forward Lauren Alonzo: In her third year, Lauren averaged 14pts/ 8 reb/5 steals per game. As the team co-captain she had a field goal percentage of 54% and Foul shooting percentage of 74%. An all-star at three season tournaments and the BCCAA player of the year.
The second All-Canadian from the BCCAA is Guard Lindsay Anderson: Also in her third year Lindsay 15.4 pts/4 assists/3steals per game. She constantly works on her game and with her dedication and
community service, she is a role model and true leaderFrom Alberta: From the Augustana University College, forward Shelley Pozerniuk. Shelley averages 14.4pt/5 rebs and 3 steals per game. In her fourth year at Augustana, she is a respected player in the
ACAA and can be counted on to play her best when the pressure is on.Also from the ACAC, Point Guard Kim Bridge from the Lethbridge Community College . In her second year Kim leads the ACAC in assists with 6 per game and is second in scoring with 15 ppg. Kim is a dedicated player who leads by example
Our best in Ontario: From Durham College, Guard Bonnie Slaughter. Bonnie led the OCAA is scoring with 21.7 ppg. And broke two OCAA single season scoring records. Most 3 pt fg in a season and Best FT %. A mainstay for the Lords , Bonnie was the reason for the team's excellent second half.
The selections from Quebec: Starting with the champions — from Montmorency: Forward Corinne Jean. In her rookie season, Corinne is second in scoring with 16.7 ppg and boasts a rebounding stat of 7.5 per game. A well respected athlete, she leads by example.
From the Cegep de Sainte-Foy — Forward Myriam Lamarre Myriam averages 15 pts/7 rebs/3 steals per game. Also a rookie, she is equally effective in the paint and on the perimeter. She is a money player and very coachable.
Dawson College player Lizanne Murphy rounds out the selections from Quebec. Lizanne leads the league in 2-point scoring, points per game and rebounding. An A student and repeat all-Canadian — Lizanne Murphy.
Atlantic region: From the Mount Saint Vincent Mystics, Point Guard Kim Fralick — Kim is a third year player who averages 15.6 pts/ 7.2 rebs/ and 3 assists per game. As the team captain, she is the hardest working player in practices and games. With a positive attitude, dedication, and the stats, she led her team to a second place finish and the ACAA championship.
Also representing the ACAA from St. Thomas University, forward Erin Monohan. In her second season, Erin averaged 11.5 pts and 6.5 rebs per game. Stepping up to be the leader on the team with no seniors, and a great role model. From this great group of All-Canadians the following have been nominated for Player of the Year honours.

The CCAA has chosen as the 2003 Player of the Year, the All-Canadian from University College of the Fraser Valley — Lauren Alonzo.
Another tough task is the selection of the Coach of the Year. Nominated for this honour are:
BCCAA: From the University College of the Fraser Valley — Al Tuchscherer in the 02/03 season Al led his team to an undefeated season in the 10 team BCCAA league and overall had only two losses in exhibition play he is credited with understanding and reading his players well; enabling them to reach their maximum potential — in his first year as head coach.
ACAC: From the ACAA's Lethbridge Community College our second nomination Brad Karren. With a league record of 18-2 in the 6 team league and an overall of 33-5, Coach Karren coaches his team
to "never get out worked" Brad has continued the tradition of excellence at LCC.OCAA: The OCAA's nomination is Mark Gallupe, head coach for the Loyalist College Lancers.
Coach Gallupe’s team finished 8-4 in league and had a 7-5 exhibition run against CCAA and premier club teams in their second year in the OCAA league. An excellent year in the building of the Loyalist Lancers.FQSE: Dawson Coach Trevor Williams is Quebec's 2003 Coach of the Year. Bringing a team of rookies in 01-02 to a consistently high national ranking in 2002-03, Coach Williams coaches by the PLUS philosophy — Positive Learning Using Sport. A role model for his players, he assists them on and off the court with basketball and life skills.
ACAA: In the Atlantic Region, Mt. A's Al Hart is one of the "deans of women's basketball" This year's ACAA Coach of the Year, AL has developed a squad that had the skill and confidence to win the big games down the stretch, finishing 15-6. With the philosophy that HARD WORK = RESULTS, Coach Hart develops people through sport.
The CCAA has chosen as the 2003 Women's Basketball Coach of the Year, from University College of the Fraser Valley — Al Tuchscherer.
