Justine not only won this year's Undergraduate Research Excellence Award (UREA) for the Department of Geography, but also the Geological Society of America (GSA) 2010 Farouk El-Baz Student Award for research in desert/dryland regions for her work in the UFV Luminescence Dating Laboratory, under the supervision of Dr. Olav Lian. The award is competed for internationally, and the GSA presents only two such awards each year; Justine is the first undergraduate student to win one. Justine also presented her research at both the Western Division of the Canadian Association of Geographers meeting in Edmonton in March and the Canadian Association of Geographers conference in Regina in June.
