Receiving a degree with Honours is not automatic. Geography majors interested in earning an Honours designation are encouraged to apply once they’ve completed 90 credits (although early applications may be accepted). In addition to the above requirements, Honours applicants need to provide at the time of declaration a portfolio, a summary statement of the student's work that includes, among other things, copies of the applicant's transcripts, a representative sample of completed and graded course work, and any additional materials the student feels will best demonstrate thair abilities in their chosen field. For more details on the portfolio requirement go to Portfolio FAQs.
Geography Honours degrees can only be conferred to Geography majors. If you are currently completing a minor or extended minor in Geography and are interested in becoming a major in order to work towards an Honours designation, speak with Academic Advising or a Geography faculty member about planning your degree program.
