How can a mentor help you succeed at UFV?
Your mentor is a source of invaluable knowledge in all aspects of university life. Mentors can help you with:
  • Research methods
  • How to access student services such as the Writing Centre
  • Social life on or off campus
  • Approaching your instructors
  • How to take useful notes
  • Information on what courses or instructors are like
  • Balancing work and school
  • Making valuable connections on and off campus
  • Where to get the best pizza in town, and more...
Who can be a mentee?
The History Department at UFV is commetted to helping our student succeed in the often mind-boggling world of university. Mentees can come from a wide variety of backgrounds, but some common situations include:
  • A student in high school considering UFV History for post-secondary education
  • A 1st or 2nd year UFV student taking history courses
  • A mature student returning to university after a long absence
  • A student transferring to UFV from another institution

A prospective mentee might be struggling with their transition to university or they could be doing quite well but want to become more connected to university life. Mentees might be committed to becoming a history major, exploring options, or reluctantly completing mandatory program requirements.

If you are a registered UFV student interested in being mentored by an experienced UFV history student, please fill out the Mentee Application Form and our co-ordinator will contact you with further details.
