The History Department and the MSA Museum present:

Historica, Your Place in History
Historica Fairs School Program

The Historica Fairs Program is an exciting, active learning environment that provides students in grades 4 to 9 with the opportunity to explore Canadian history and culture. Students are encouraged to create a project on the heritage topic of their choice, using information and imagination to bring history to life. When students create a Fair project, they are not just telling what happened in the past: they are explaining why it happened and why it is important to us today. This focus on not just learning history, but on actually understanding it, reflects a new direction in teaching.

The five main objectives of the Historica Fairs are:

  • to heighten awareness of our heritage
  • to celebrate our cultural diversity
  • to promote and publicize the variety and uniqueness of our heritage
  • to create an exciting learning environment for students of history
  • to encourage individuals and communities to celebrate their part in Canada's history.

The Historica Fair in the Fraser Valley region will take place on:
May 5th and 6th
University College of the Fraser Valley
Student Activity Centre
33844 King Road,
Abbotsford
