TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT ALLOWANCE
All “A” and “B” (permanent) UFV employees have access to an Employee Training and Development Allowance, which is pro-rated if their contract is less than full-time.
The T & D Allowance is a supplement to the UFV in-service professional development plan. All approved Professional Development activites are also approved for reimbursement through the Training & Development Allowance.
If the expenses submitted for an In-Service PD activity exceed the funds approved and available, the additional expenses will be reimbursed automatically from an individual's Training & Development Allowance.
Employees may submit one claim (per fiscal) for the following eligible expenses:
- internet connection fees
- computer purchases (once every 3 years)
- approved research expenses eligible under UFV guidelines for non in-service professional development
Employees who receive reimbursement for the purchase of a computer are confirming the computer is for their use and it is the property of UFV for three years as per Canada Revenue Guidelines for this non taxable benefit.
PLEASE NOTE: All Training and Development Allowance claims must be received in Human Resources by February 28, in order to be reimbursed from the current fiscal year's funding. Any claims received after this date will not be eligible for reimbursement.
Training & Development
UFV Teaching faculty may be eligible to access Training & Development funds for the purchase of an iPad.
iPad purchase reimbursement requests will be processed on an individual basis on receipt of written confirmation from the dean that the expense incurred is directly associated with teaching responsibilities or current active research or professional program(s) of the teaching faculty member requesting approval.
