Event Staff (on campus)

Cascades Athletics is seeking high-energy, qualified individuals to work as Event Staff during the 2010-11 Athletic Season. Event Staff are responsible for the day to day operations of all Basketball, Volleyball and Soccer games. This is a fun opportunity to be involved in an energetic environment and be involved with a vibrant facet of UFV life.

Each position is paid and part time, suited to people that enjoy working within the athletic environment. Successful candidates will be required to work varying shifts from Thursday through Sunday during the course of the season (September-March 1). Each game day will require a time commitment of 4-8 hours. Event Staff will report to the Home Events Coordinator.

Qualifications

1. Full-Time, Registered UFV Student for the 2010-11 Academic Year
2. Ability to work independently within a team environment
3. Sports background a definite asset
4. Previous Customer Service Background an asset
5. Previous Statistician and Scorekeeping an asset for scorer’s table positions

Positions & Descriptions

Ticket Takers

• Responsible for selling tickets, making change
• Responsible for handing out programs to spectators
• Customer Service Experience an asset
• Assist in general set-up and take-down of facility

Prize Patrol (Basketball and Volleyball Only)

• Set-up and lead on-court promotions during timeouts in play
• Provide spectators with the chance to win FREE prizes
• Assist the announcer with music during and prior to the game
• Maintain an inventory of all prizes
• Assist in general set-up and take-down of facility

Announcer/DJ (Basketball and Volleyball Only)

• Work with the Home Events Coordinator to develop a script to be used during each home game
• Announce script and do game play-by-play as needed
• Select and maintain a good collection of music to be played during the games
• Assist in general set-up and take-down of facility

Spotter (Statistician)

• Ability to work with a team of individuals monitoring and tracking all necessary statistics as required by the CIS and BCCAA
• Assist in general set-up and take-down of facility

Scorer’s Table

• Work with the major officials to properly track all information about the match
• Ensure that all game operations follow and adhere to CIS or CCAA policies and procedures
• Assist in general set-up and take-down of facility

Shot Clock AND/OR Score Clock (Basketball)

• Work within a team of individuals to provide assistance to the officials to ensure proper timing and scoring of event
• Assist in general set-up and take-down of facility

Video (Volleyball and Basketball Only)

• Set-up equipment and record all games
• Create copies and distribute as needed
• Assist in general set-up and take-down of facility
