Convocation 2010
At Convocation, UFV officially confers credentials (master's and bachelor's degrees, diplomas, associate degrees and certificates) to students who have successfully met all program and university requirements. In 2009, we had almost 1,800 graduates achieving almost 2,000 credentials from all our programs.
Dates Convocation dates are Thursday, June 10 and Friday, June 11, 2010. Find your program on the schedule here.
Guest ticketsDue to limited space, there is a maximum of 4 tickets per graduate. Tickets are free of charge; graduates do not require tickets for themselves. Parking information is on the back of guest tickets.
See note about extra ticket availability below.Ticket pick-up (closed)
Wednesday, June 2 was the last day for ticket pick-up. Extra ticketsExtra tickets for convocation will be available
Monday, June 7 from 9 am to 12 noon in the Alumni Hall (outside of Admissions & Records, Building B) on the Abbotsford campus.
Extra tickets will only be distributed at this one location in person and are not available over the phone. Graduates do not need to attend in person, however, your student number is required if someone is picking up extra tickets on your behalf. The number of extra tickets per student is still being determined.
Extra tickets are available while quantities last for the following ceremonies and are on a first-come, first-served basis:
Ceremony #1 - June 10 9:30 am
Ceremony #2 - June 10 2:30 pm
no tickets availableCeremony #3 - June 11 9:30 am (very minimal)
Ceremony #4 - June 11 2:30 pm
We do encourage you to bring all your guests and wait until everyone who does have a ticket is seated in the gym. At this point, we will do our best to accommodate those without tickets. If we are unable to do this, guests will be directed to our overflow lecture theatre for the live broadcast on the big screen. Tickets are not required to attend the reception.
Graduate arrival timesPlease arrive to the bottom floor entrance of building D (door closest to B building) 1 hour prior to your ceremony start time.
Find your program on the schedule here.
Gown and document informationAll gowns and required documents including parchment will be supplied on the day of Convocation free of charge. Please return your gown within a half hour after your ceremony. All unclaimed parchments will be mailed to graduates after June 11.
Guest seatingConvocation is held in the Envision Athletic Centre. Please note that convocation is a "festival-seating" event, meaning that there is no pre-assigned seating for guests; it's first come, first-seated. For those who arrive late or who do not have tickets for the main ceremony, UFV offers an 'overflow' viewing area, where the ceremony is broadcast onto a big screen.
We welcome grads to bring additional guests, but it is important to note that they will be asked to wait in the lobby until the venue fills and we can determine whether any extra seating is left. If no seats remain, guests will be asked to sit in our overflow area for the ceremonies and then join the reception on the campus green. Latecomers - even if they do hold tickets - may be asked to sit in the overflow areas.
