Science Rocks!

The Faculty of Science offers Science Rocks! Summer camps every year in July and August. Designed especially for kids going into Grades 4, 5, 6, and 7 for the upcoming Fall. These camps are great fun and an awesome learning opportunity for campers!

Each of our camps run from 9-4 each day, with drop off between 8:30-9 am and pick up between 4-4:30 pm. Lunch and a camp t-shirt are included with camp fees.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, registration will open on or before April 1, 2024

Summer Camp Prices (subject to change)

The cost of our one-week camp is $400. Lunch and a camp t-shirt are included with camp fees. Discounts for multiple camps apply for a single camper attending multiple weeks or multiple siblings attending the camps.

Please note that short weeks are discounted by 20%.

Student-leader ratios

We have a limit of 26 campers/week and 3 leaders per camp. In addition to the leader-facilitators, one or more UFV Science Faculty members will be on-site at all times.

Camp locations

The camps will be held on both Abbotsford and Chilliwack campuses and will be run both indoors and outside, dependent on weather and activity.

2024 Summer Camp Themes

Download the 2024 Science Rocks! Summer Camp FlyerEach camp week will be organized around a central theme. Each day one or two activities will focus on that week's theme.  Over a given week, campers can expect to experience activities from Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Agriculture, and Computer Science.  Many of the weeks will also include activities from Geography and Kinesiology. 3D Printing is also worked into many of our camps!

CAMP 1: Fractals, Figures, inFinity! 

Abbotsford Campus: Each day campers will indulge in one or two activities all about math! Whether it be solving puzzles, identifying patterns, or uncovering other secrets and magic of numbers and shapes, this camp is great for any problem solver! Partially supported by a grant from the Canadian Mathematical Society.

CAMP 2: Fire, Flood, Frost!

Abbotsford Campus: Each day campers will get to experience one or two activities about the natural environment of Earth, ranging from fiery explosions in a lab to learning about the mystical chills of our planet!

CAMP 3: Flora, Fauna, Fossils!

Abbotsford Campus: Each day campers will engage in one or two activities all about the life around us, from the plants and animals we see every day, to those we haven't seen in millions of years!

Chilliwack CEP Campus: Each day campers will engage in one or two activities all about the life around us, from the plants and animals we see every day, to those we haven't seen in millions of years!
