English Language Studies offers a range of courses and program options designed to give people the skills and confidence they need to succeed in academic and professional environments where English is the main language of communication.

Our intermediate-level courses develop and integrate English language skills in the areas of speaking, listening, writing, and reading while improving grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.

Our advanced-level courses are designed to prepare students for university-level studies. Students gain valuable academic study and computer skills through an English for academic preparation curriculum and technology-enhanced course delivery.         

Our teaching faculty provide outstanding instruction informed by best practices in Teaching English as a Second or Additional Language, and they have many years of experience working with domestic and international students from around the world.

Our department maintains a state-of-the-art multimedia ELS Computer Lab and faculty-staffed Help Centre to further support our students.
