Developed by the Goverment of Canada's top research ethics panel of external advisory experts, the TCPS 2: CORE (Course on Research Ethics) Training promotes awareness and education when conducting research involving humans. TCPS 2: CORE is an online interactive training module delivery with no prerequisites - anyone may take course. You can complete course in about three hours, and print your own certificate of completion.
HREB recommends faculty include completion of the CORE tutorial as a compotent of their students course-based work especially course-designated classes with a research component. Instructors must keep student CORE certificates on file for the duration of the course-designated approval term. TCPS 2 certificates can then be verified if requested.
All team members on a UFV HREB application are required to complete the TCPS2 CORE tutorial prior to submitting a request for research ethics review. All students enrolled in an HREB approved research course or working directly with human participants as a research asssistant must complete CORE as well.
For students enrolled in a research course, please submit your CORE certificate to your instructor. All students must register for CORE using their UFV student e-mail address and select UFV as their host institution. TCPS2 CORE completion will be verified randomly.
