Tom Heah works as an occupational therapist with Vancouver Coastal Community Mental Health and Substance Use Program, and in private practice in Vancouver, B.C. He is a faculty and mentor in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) at the Centre for Mindfulness Studies, and an advisor with the UCLA Training in Mindfulness Facilitation Program. Since 2006, Tom has developed and facilitated mindfulness-based courses for people who have mental health issues, chronic pain and neuromuscular conditions, health care professionals, college students and the general public. He is passionate about facilitating learning among new mindfulness teachers-in-training.

I’ve taken online courses from other institutions, and UFV’s dedication to technologies made for my best overall online learning experience. The most important thing about my experience at UFV is the feeling that I mattered to the school and my instructors. I wasn’t just a faceless student, even in an online environment.
