Biography

Tom Heah works as an occupational therapist with Vancouver Coastal Community Mental Health and Substance Use Program, and in private practice in Vancouver, B.C. He is a faculty and mentor in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) at the Centre for Mindfulness Studies, and an advisor with the UCLA Training in Mindfulness Facilitation Program. Since 2006, Tom has developed and facilitated mindfulness-based courses for people who have mental health issues, chronic pain and neuromuscular conditions, health care professionals, college students and the general public. He is passionate about facilitating learning among new mindfulness teachers-in-training.

Since participating in the Adult Education program, I have incorporated many of the skills and concepts into my everyday work. I feel strongly that my involvement in the Adult Education program has enhanced my work, and has given me the critical thinking skills needed to develop new programming and further my career.
