At UFV, you’ll find everything from chem labs to classrooms to construction zones. Wherever you are — in a conference room, your favourite study spot, or walking across the parking lot — we are committed to making sure you feel safe and secure.
The Safety & Security team encourages employees, faculty, students, and visitors to explore and make use of the resources within this website. Please help us create a culture where we all look out for each other’s safety and manage risks well.
Welcome to Tina Kerton, Director of Safety & Security.
Tina comes to UFV from the RCMP where she has served as a peace officer for the past 18 years, most recently as Corporal in the Surrey Intimate Partner Violence Unit. Tina is a skilled and experienced security professional, bringing a variety of experience from her various roles within the RCMP, including a Limited Duration Post of two years with the Nisga’a people in the Lisims-Nass Valley detachment.
Tina holds a Bachelor of Arts (English major) and Bachelor of Education from UBC, along with RCMP training in Senior Leadership Development, Incident Command, Phased Interviews and Major Crime Investigations.
Prior to becoming a police officer, Tina was a teacher in the Abbotsford school district for five years. Together with her demonstrated leadership, commitment to public safety, and passion for fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment, we are very pleased to have Tina join UFV to lead the Safety and Security portfolio.
