Biography

Kim Milnes joined the faculty of UFV in 2006.  She holds both a Masters of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from the University of British Columiba.

Kim was a management consultant for almost 20 years employed by large firms such as Accenture and Telus, medium firms like Sierra Systems and small startups.  Her clients included a huge variety of businesses throughout B.C. Kim specialized in developing and implementing e-business solutions for her clients.

In her second career in academia, she combines her extensive practical business experience (in areas such as e-marketing, e-business, change management, strategic management, and information technology) and her passion for teaching to create a unique learning experience for both her students and herself.  Within her courses, she focuses on practical application of the latest industry and academic knowledge.  In lower level classes, Kim has students look at solutions for business problems in the context of "real world" companies.  Students in her upper classes work with community based businesses in projects to provide hands on application of concepts.  In 8 years, Kim's students have worked with over 150 businesses in the Fraser Valley and Chandigarh, India areas.

From 2007 - 2013, Kim was the Academic Liaison for UFV's BBA program in Chandigarh, India.  This role involved coordinating and growing UFV Chandigarh's operations including: student recruiting, registration, academic issues, transfers to Canadian campuses, overseeing Indian campus operations, faculty, and facilities and developing student and faculty orientation.  Kim has happily traveled to and lived in India six times where she has developed great connections and friendships with the faculty, staff and students in Chandigarh.  Though no longer "officially" connected to the Chandigarh program, Kim remains keenly interested in the ongoing and future success of this program.

I have a great appreciation for the professor who pushed me to get my CA designation. Isn’t it crazy how a little conversation can change your life so completely. Keith’s guidance alone has given me a lifetime of happiness and wealth. If I had gone to a larger university who knows if something like that would have ever happened. I am very proud of the route I took, but I wouldn’t have gotten there without my professors at UFV.
