Dr. Eric Davis, Provost and Vice-President, Academic invites you to attend our 2016 Convocation ceremonies:
From Dr. Eric Davis:
"Convocation is a special time, a rite of passage for our UFV graduates. I encourage you to support your graduating students and UFV by attending our Convocation ceremonies and taking part in the faculty procession.
There is an opportunity to lead you students on stage and congratulate them as they cross the stage, or to join the faculty party and other VIPs to sit on stage.
A university credential concludes one of the most profound transformations in a student's life. You were a vital part of that transformation and Convocation is recognition of that fact. Encourage your students to be a part of this important ceremony and please, make every effort to attend."
Do you have your own regalia? Please wear it. It will add to the pomp and color of the day. You can rent or purchase your own regalia from your alma mater by contacting Gaspard’s.
Unfortunately, UFV is unable to cover the cost of specialty regalia rental or purchase. But if you RSVP online, using the form on the right by May 18, UFV will provide you with a black gown in your size and a UFV faculty hood you can wear for the ceremony.
Many of you also support our UFV grads before each ceremony with gowning, marshaling or other graduation activities. I encourage you to sign up for Team Convocation positions which do not conflict with your ability to participate in the faculty procession for your students.
On graduation day, please plan to arrive at the faculty gowning area and lounge 45 minutes prior to the ceremony start time.
The faculty gowning area is located on the arena floor level of the Abbotsford Centre (AC). Backstage access to the area is from the south side of the AC, near employee parking lot 2A.
Light refreshments will be available in the faculty lounge. Team Convocation members will assist you with regalia and then direct you to the marshalling area behind the stage on the main arena floor.
Please allow up to 3 hours for each ceremony.
