Campus wayfinding tours are a part of your UFV Student Orientation experience! You'll learn how to find your way around the UFV Abbotsford and Chilliwack campuses for classes, accessibility, and supportive services. Here's everything you need to know to be prepared for your upcoming tour.
Who can book?
Currently, Campus Wayfinding Tours offered through the UFV Student Orientation program are only available to current, registered UFV students. If you're not yet a UFV student registered for classes this upcoming semester, or if you're a family member or friend looking to support your new UFV student, campus tours are available by request any time through the Future Students webpage.
To allow you to feel comfortable in your personal space, and give you a chance to really connect with other students, tour group size is currently capped at 12 students. Each tour is led by one current UFV student, staff, or faculty tour guide.
Campus safety protocols
On the day of your tour, before coming to campus, please complete a Self-Assessment Health Check. If you are experiencing any covid symptoms, please stay home. You can always rebook your tour for another date that works for you!
All UFV tours follow current PHO and University health and safety guidelines. For more information on UFV's return-to-campus plan and COVID-19 protocols, please visit UFV’s Coming to Campus webpage.
The UFV Orientation team strives to create an inclusive tour experience for students of all abilities and backgrounds. If you have any accessibility needs that you would like our team to accommodate, simply include them on your online booking form when you sign up for your tour date/time.
We encourage students with accessibility requirements to sign up for tours 10-14 days in advance to give us time to adapt your tour to best suit your needs.
Booking & cancellations
Campus Wayfinding Tours can be booked online! Visit the Campus Tour booking page to find all available tour dates and times.
Please note that campus tours are offered based on student interest. In the event that there are not enough (4 or more) students booked on a given tour, that tour may be cancelled. If the tour date/time you selected becomes unavailable, you will be notified at least 2 days in advance with instructions on how to select a new tour.
If you would like to cancel your tour, or change to a different date/time, please email the Orientation Team at email@example.com
Friends, family & supporters
Please note that because of tour capacity, at this time guests are not permitted to accompany students on their tour. If you have friends, family, or supporters who would like to attend a UFV campus tour, please visit the Future Students campus tours website.
Students and supporters can access recorded versions of campus wayfinding tours online in the Additional Wayfinding resources section of the Campus Wayfinding tours main page.
Getting to campus
Currently, orientation wayfinding tours are only offered at the UFV Abbotsford (King Road) and UFV Chilliwack (Caen Avenue) locations. For tours and information about other UFV campus locations, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
UFV Abbotsford campus
Tours on the Abbotsford Campus (33844 King Road, Abbotsford, BC, Canada V2S 7M8) will depart from Building B (also known as the Registration or O-Reg building). Your tour guide will be waiting to check you in for your tour outside of Building A, under the catwalk between building B & building A.
Building B is located by parking lot 3b, and can be accessed using the King Road entrance.
UFV Chilliwack campus
Tours on the Chilliwack Campus (45190 Caen Avenue, Chilliwack, BC, Canada V2R 0N3) will depart from Building A, near the Spirit Bear Cafe on the east side of campus. Your tour guide will be waiting to check you in for your tour outside of Building A.
Building A is located by the Caen-at-Festubert bus stop and parking lot 6, and can be accessed using the Caen Avenue entrance.
What to bring
Tours will take place both outside and inside buildings on campus. Bring what you need to be comfortable navigating or walking the campus for about 1.5 hours, and be prepared for the weather. Here's what we suggest:
- Bring your own non-medical mask to wear for the entire duration of your tour.
Wear comfortable shoes
Dress appropriately for an indoor and outdoor environment
Consider bringing your own reusable waterbottle (refill stations are available on campus)
Getting your campus card & u-pass
While you’re on campus for your tour, you may be able to get your Student ID card (campus card) and u-pass sticker.
UFV Campus Card
If you are currently registered in at least 1 course for the Fall semester, and would like to get your campus card before the start of classes, you should plan to be photo ready, bring one piece of government photo ID, have your UFV student number ready. Check the campus card website to find out their hours of operation, and more information.
For students who plan on using BC Transit or municipal recreation centres in Abbotsford, Mission, and Chilliwack, you may also be able to get your u-pass sticker from the Student Union Society before the start of classes. Check the SUS u-pass website to find out their hours of operation, and more information.
Textbooks from the UFV Bookstore
Some instructors publish their list of course materials in advance so students can purchase their course textbooks and other items before the start of classes. You can look up the materials list for each of your courses by visiting the UFV Bookstore website. Many students also choose to purchase their materials directly from the UFV bookstore.
Currently, the bookstore is open for in-person browsing and purchasing, and will also accept online purchase orders with assigned pickup times. If you plan on buying your course materials from the bookstore via online order, consider arranging a pickup for a time that you plan to be on campus for a tour.
