SF4C Innovation — West Coast

Structured as a national network with four regional nodes, the Innovation Node of SF4C is based out of the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) co-chaired by Dr. Lenore Newman, the director of UFV’s Food and Agriculture Institute (FAI), the University of Alberta’s Dean of Agriculture, and the director of Dalhousie’s Agri-Food Analytics Lab, ensuring that while it is rooted in the West, it provides leadership on a national scale.

The Innovation Node - West Coast (WCIN) functions as a research co-operative within SF4C, responsible for driving innovation and providing mentorship.

Dr. Evan Fraser, director of Arrell Food Institute at University of Guelph gives keynote speech at Grounded Innovation 2.0, launch of the UFV as the western node of SF4C, May 2025.
