PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Construction Electrical certificate program covers the basic concepts of safety, code electrical construction and maintenance. Basic skills learned include:

  • Commercial-type wiring methods
  • Polyphase systems
  • Power distribution systems
  • Iindustrial electronics
  • Introduction to rotation electrical equipment

CAREER EXPECTATIONS

Graduates will be well prepared to enter the trade as apprentices. As an apprentice you will learn to:

  • Install, maintain and repair equipment in residential, commercial, and industrial establishments
  • Install, connect, and test electrical wiring systems for light, heat, and power

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school graduation or equivalent  (or a letter from your school stating you will graduate)
  • Successful completion of math and reading entrance exam
  • Note: applicants should possess good hand/eye coordination and good colour vision
