Funders
This project is funded by Genome BC and Genome Canada through their Interdisciplinary Challenge Teams (ICTs), a key component of the new Climate Action Genomics Initiative. The ICTs unite researchers from diverse fields and end-users to collaboratively reduce the carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions of Canada’s agriculture and food systems. By leveraging genomic solutions, the initiative aims to develop climate-resilient, socially responsible, economically viable, and environmentally sustainable agricultural and food production systems to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
Our GE3LS-focused research program will explore the ethical, environmental, economic, legal, and social dimensions of genomics. Specifically, it will examine the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) implications of agri-genomics in advancing climate-smart agriculture and resilient food systems.
