WriteAway is an exciting service in BC that gives students at participating institutions the opportunity to receive online writing assistance. Qualified tutors from each of the participating sites staff the service and provide feedback on students' draft writing assignments. There are currently sixteen institutions participating in WriteAway.
The WriteAway project was initiated by the Council of Senior Student Affairs Leaders in BC (CSSAL), and was developed in cooperation with BCcampus, the BC Electronic Library Network (BC ELN), and Irving K. Barber Learning Centre, University of British Columbia.
How does WriteAway work?
Undergraduate students can receive online feedback on their academic written work from a trained tutor. The tutors work at institutions all over BC. When using WriteAway, you do not interact with tutors directly; instead, you submit your document online through the WriteAway platform, wait for an email from WriteAway to tell you your feedback is ready, and then receive your paper back from WriteAway with comments, strategies, resources, and suggestions to help you improve your writing. You can submit up to three drafts of your paper to WriteAway. Tutors do their best to share feedback within 48 hours, but response times can get longer at peak times. Please submit well in advance of your deadlines if you would like feedback.
WriteAway has a Frequently Asked Questions page that will be useful to consult before you begin using the service.
