Session descriptions:

Yoga Nidra
Monday March 7, 3:30 pm to 4 pm and
Monday March 28, 3:30 pm to 4 pm

Would you like to enter a deep state of relaxation but have intrusive thoughts that wouldn’t let you? Research shows that Yoga Nidra helps clear stress hormones from the body, while increasing feel good hormones. It is especially effective for people with anxiety or trauma and for people that struggle to settle their minds.

Yoga Nidra is an ancient guided practice that provides a gentle and supported way into deep relaxation. The practice is typically done lying down comfortably. It also can be done sitting or standing. Wear warm comfy clothing and cover yourself with a blanket, if you would like.

Join UFV counsellor Eileen Burkholder in developing the skill of entering into deep relaxation and rest for your mind and body. For questions, email Eileen.

Overwhelmed
Monday, March 14, 3:30 pm to 4 pm

Get calm quick when feeling overwhelmed. It is possible find greater ease in the midst of confusion, stress and anxiety. So much of the overwhelmed comes from what we are projecting onto the future. And in this moment, there is the ability to recognize overwhelmed, be with overwhelmed, and not be swallowed by it.

Join UFV counsellor Eileen Burkholder for two basic practices, which people have been doing for hundreds of years to calm overwhelmed: belly breathing and walking with in-the-moment awareness. For questions, email Eileen.

Entering the Relaxation Response
Monday, March 21, 3:30 pm to 4 pm

Quickly calm your mind and body. One way to enter your relaxation response is to extend your outbreath longer than your inbreath. This is the counterpart to the fight-or-flight anxiety response. We will practice a research-based technique you can use when feeling anxious, stressed and to help you fall asleep.

Join UFV counsellor, Eileen Burkholder, in developing the skill of entering deep relaxation and rest for the mind and body. For questions, email Eileen.

Yeeting Stress and Hitting Reset
