Living on campus is more fun when you’re matched with someone who shares your habits and lifestyle. UFV Housing offers a roommate matching process to help students find a compatible roommate before move-in.
How it works
If you've accepted your room, signed your housing contract, and paid your Room Offer Acceptance Fee (ROAF), you can start the roommate matching process through the Housing Portal.
Once you're eligible, you’ll be able to:
- Fill out a roommate profile with details about your lifestyle, study habits, and preferences
- Search for preferred roommates
- View suggested matches based on compatibility
- Select a roommate. If both parties choose each other, we will do our best to match you.
Roommate matching is optional. If you don’t select someone by the deadline, a roommate will be assigned to you.
Room assignment process
Room and roommate assignments are finalized after the housing fee deadline. At that time:
- Our team reviews your application, profile responses, and any roommate or room requests
- Assignments are made based on lifestyle compatibility, room type preferences, and overall availability
- Auto-allocation considers your gender, program of study, and other information in your application
While we do our best to accommodate requests, specific roommates, rooms, or floors are not guaranteed.
Requests & preferences
You can request a specific roommate, floor, or room. While we consider these preferences carefully, they depend on availability and cannot be guaranteed.
UFV does not discriminate in room or roommate assignments based on race, colour, religion, place of origin, ancestry, or sexual orientation.
When you’ll hear from us
Roommate names and room numbers are not shared before check-in for privacy and operational reasons.
You will receive confirmation of your room type for invoicing purposes.
