UFV is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for its staff and students to work and learn in. The Health, Safety & Wellness office strives to ensure that UFV operates in compliance with WorkSafe BC chemical safety standards.
Currently UFV employs the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS). WHMIS is Canada's national hazard communication standard. The key elements of the system are cautionary labeling of containers of WHMIS "controlled products", the provision of material safety data sheets (MSDSs) and worker education and training programs.
UFV strongly encourage all faculty, staff, and students that use UFV laboratories participate in WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Information System) training. Complete your WHMIS training now or contact the Health, Safety & Wellness office for more information.
The WHMIS training program is currently being updated to meet the WHMIS 2015/GHS requirements. Please complete the form and we will contact you when the updated training course is made available.
