Currently UFV employs the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS). WHMIS is Canada's national chemical hazard communication standard. The key elements of the system are cautionary labeling of containers of WHMIS hazardous products, the provision of safety data sheets (SDSs) and worker education and training.
UFV strongly encourage all faculty, staff, and students that use UFV laboratories participate in WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Information System) training. Complete your WHMIS training now or contact the Health, Safety & Wellness office for more information.
WHMIS training for employees / students
The UFV WHMIS course is currently offered through UFV Blackboard and requires your myUFV employee/student number and myUFV password for access.
To self-enrol in WHMIS, please follow these steps:
1. Click this link: Log into WHMIS (ignore the error message)
2. Click on +Enroll
3. Click on black 'Login in' box
4. Log into Blackboard login box using your myUFV username and password
WHMIS training materials for students
Faculty or staff can contact the Health & Safety Office by email to request student WHMIS training materials for students who need to complete WHMIS for curriculum, research activities or work functions.
