UFV is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for its employees and students to work and learn in. The Health & Safety office strives to ensure that UFV operates in compliance with WorkSafe BC standards.
Currently UFV employs the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS). WHMIS is Canada's national chemical hazard communication standard. The key elements of the system are cautionary labeling of containers of WHMIS hazardous products, the provision of safety data sheets (SDSs) and worker education and training.
UFV strongly encourage all faculty, staff, and students that use UFV laboratories participate in WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Information System) training. Complete your WHMIS training now or contact the Health, Safety & Wellness office for more information.

WHMIS Training for Students
Faculty or staff that require students to complete WHMIS for curriculum, research activities or work functions should contact the Health & Safety Office by email to request the Student WHMIS training materials.
