Student Accounts

Student computer accounts allow access to UFV computers, network files, and myUFV while on and off campus.

Access to any computer on all campuses is restricted to currently registered UFV students. Student accounts are created based on the student ID number located on a student's Campus Card.

Can’t find your student ID number?

Students must visit the Office of the Registrar in person and provide ID such as their Campus Card or other government issued ID and your student ID number will be provided.

Note: Student ID numbers will not be given out over the phone. 

How do I log into a UFV computer, my network files, or myUFV for the first time?

To log in for the first time, please use your student ID number as your username and the temporary password which was provided to you. If you have not received your temporary password or don’t remember it, you can request a temporary password by one of following options:

 1. In-person: bring a picture ID card to either location below:

  • IT Service Desk located at B241 on the Abbotsford campus
  • Office of the Registrar on the Abbotsford campus (B211) or the Chilliwack campus  (A1312)

2. Off-campus: Please email a copy of valid photo ID (i.e. driver’s license, student ID card) to itservicedesk@ufv.ca . Also include your student ID number, alternative email address, and a phone number where you can be reached. The Service Desk will enable your account and provide you with a temporary password after verification.

How do I change my password?

Once you have successfully logged in with your temporary password, click on the Personal Information link located under the UFV Self-Service Links section to create your new password.

Your new password must be at least 8 characters and no more than 12 characters and should be a combination of lower and upper case letters, numbers, and special characters.

Please wait at least 10 minutes before using your new password for the first time.

What if I can’t remember my password or my account is disabled?

Check that the student number you have entered is correct. You can find this number on your student card. 

If your account is disabled or you require assistance resetting your password, please follow these steps:

1. In-person: bring a picture ID card to either location below:

  • IT Service Desk located at B241 on the Abbotsford campus

 What will the IT Service Desk do with the copy of my photo ID?

Once we have validated the copy of your photo ID, it will be permanently and securely removed from the system. It is only used for one-time validation to ensure the security of your myUFV account.

What if I've been locked out?

myUFV will suspend your account if it detects too many attempts to login with the wrong password.  When this happens, you will be locked out for 30 minutes only. You may try again after 30 minutes. If you are still unable to login, please contact the IT Service Desk.

myUFV 

myUFV is a portal where students can access their UFV student web services such as:

  • registration
  • viewing class grades
  • student email
  • access Blackboard
  • view campus announcements
  • access their online courses

Students can login to myUFV with their Student Account.
