Faculty Service Excellence Awards

Nominating someone deserving

The University of the Fraser Valley has created a new award that recognizes individuals for academic excellence in service.

Individuals eligible for nomination include all UFV B faculty who have completed their probationary period or sessional instructors who have a cumulative equivalent of two (2) years teaching time at UFV.

Award winners receive a plaque with the award recipient’s name and the year on it, a framed certificate, as well as an award of $2,500.

Nomination packages should be compiled and organized formally for submission. It is the responsibility of the nominator to collect all required documentation and deliver it to the Secretariat office before January 26, 2018.

Who is eligible?

Those eligible for nomination include all UFV B faculty who have completed their probationary period or sessional instructors who have a cumulative equivalent of two years teaching time at UFV.

Who can make a nomination?

UFV “B” faculty, sessional faculty, or university administrators. Members of the Faculty Standards Committee or the FSEA Selection Committee may not nominate candidates, and no one may nominate himself or herself for this award.

Nominations must be for individual faculty only, not for a group.

  • Five letters of support which provide specific information that supports the criteria of the Faculty Service Excellence Award (500 word maximum). Two of the letters must be from individuals at UFV, and two letters from external partners who have direct, significant knowledge of the individual's service
  • A copy of the nominee’s current curriculum vitae, clearly outlining all areas of service
  • Documents which provide evidence of service, such as newsletters, media clippings, awards or honours for service, website references, etc.
