Making a Difference
The Centre for Sustainability's Green Team is a cross-functional team that represents staff, faculty, and students in which discussions on sustainability during in person meetings three times a year (September, January and May). The team's goal is to implement projects and campaigns that will encourage sustainable actions across campus. Supported by BC Hydro's Workplace Conservation Awareness Program, the team's primary focus is on reducing energy consuption at the university and is, and will continue to be, the primary focus at its meetings. We welcome any members to share ideas on what should be a priority at UFV, and what activities and communication strategies would be most effective to green all UFV campuses.
Expectations of Members
- Attend the meetings
- Help implement at least one campaign a year (putting up posters, verbal communication, etc.)
- Act as a champion to help spread awareness amongst your own colleagues and peers
All time is voluntary, and all meetings occur for an hour or so over lunch at the Abbotsford Campus. Chilliwack members are welcome to attend, or if you cannot attend in person, you are able to call into the meeting. Aside from the meetings, it is up to you how much time you want to offer to the Green Team. 1/2 hour to 1 hour a month promoting campaigns and getting the message out is about what they average member spends amongst their own groups.
