Make a Difference as a Student
Students can make a difference in so many ways. Inquire about research projects with instructors, join the Students for Sustainability group, or go beyond the borders of UFV and get involved in your community!
The University of the Fraser Valley is open to supporting student's research proposals regarding sustainability. Upper level students can design and propose research projects. Once approved, a supervisor (faculty member) is designated, and the project can begin.
UFV Garden Club
UFV's student-run Garden Club brings one of the Fraser Valley's most important exports right onto campus. Not only do they grow vegetables and other edibles, but also promote sustainable agriculture through planting days and community dinners.
Currently, the garden is outside of U-House (building F). There is hope to expand in the future. Check them out on Facebook, and feel free to stop by the gardens and grab some of whatever happens to be growing!
Students For Environmental Advocacy (SEA)
Looking to make our campus a greener place? Passionate about the environment? Looking for work experience, volunteer hours, or networking opportunities? SEA is a great place to start.
SEA is fairly new, but hopes to have a lasting impact on campus. For the fall 2015 semester, the main focus will be recycling and composting on campus. SEA is also looking to host zero-waste events like dinners and movie screenings.
Interested in ecology or other environmental biology? This is the place for you as well. Designing informational plaques and learning gardens are some of the future projects that have been conceived.
