The Sustainability Action Pathway
UFV's Office of Sustainability (OoS) is developing the Sustainability Action Pathway (SAP) to advance sustainability at UFV.
The SAP will serve as a roadmap to inform the work of the OoS to better serve the UFV community; enhance environmental, social, and economic sustainability on campus; and align with UFVs strategic plan and existing sustainability commitments.
The SAP will guide efforts to align operations, academics, research, and campus life with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which call for action to end poverty, improve well-being, and protect the planet. The SAP will incorporate the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion and include measures to advance Indigenization at UFV.
The planning process
The Sustainability Office is working with SSG, a sustainability and climate planning consultancy, to develop the SAP. SSG will support the creation of sustainability actions through a combination of research, analysis, and community engagement.
The consulting team has reviewed existing practices and plans, as well as best practices from post-secondary institutions across North America, to develop a catalog of potential sustainability actions. These actions will be refined and adjusted, and new actions will be developed, based on input from the UFV community. The final SAP will include actions that reflect the priorities of the community, along with an implementation framework and key performance indicators for tracking progress.
