Biography

Heather Davis-Fisch is cross-appointed faculty in the Theatre and English departments at UFV. She received her PhD from the School of English and Theatre Studies at the University of Guelph in 2009. In 2010-11, she was a SSHRC postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Theatre and Film at the University of British Columbia. She previously taught at the University of British Columbia, Brock University, and the University of Guelph.

Heather is the author of Loss and Cultural Remains in Performance: The Ghosts of the Franklin Expedition (Palgrave 2012), which was the co-recipient of the Ann Saddlemyer award from the Canadian Association for Theatre Research. Her research on Canadian theatre and performance history has also appeared in Theatre Research in Canada, Performing Arts Resources, and Theatres of Affect (part of the New Essays in Canadian Theatre series).

Heather is currently editing a collection of new essays and an anthology of plays, both titled Canadian Performance Histories and Historiographies, for Playwrights Canada Press. She is also the co-editor of the Views and Reviews section of Canadian Theatre Research

Heather’s teaching and research interests include intercultural and Indigenous performance, nineteenth-century theatre, Canadian theatre history, and performance studies.
