Betty Poettcker was appointed acting Chief Financial Officer and Vice President Administration as of July 2017. She is a Chartered Professional Accountant, CPA-CGA, holds a Master of Arts in Organizational Change from Hawai’i Pacific University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of the Fraser Valley. She is currently completing a Certificate in Conflict Resolution through the Justice Institute of British Columbia.
As CFO and VP Administration, Betty provides leadership to financial and administrative support services at UFV. Her portfolio encompasses Campus Planning and Facilities Management, Financial Services, Information Technology Services, Security and Emergency Management and Legal Counsel. Betty aspires to ensure UFV remains financially sustainable and that financial resources and administrative services align with the mission and strategic plans of the University. Her collaborative style and systems perspective are exemplified by the value she places on engaging employees, promoting cross functional teams, and encouraging excellence through continuous improvement.
Prior to accepting this appointment, Betty served as Director of Finance for 11 years, and held various roles including Manager of Budgets and Manager of Accounting Operations. Before coming to UFV, she worked in the banking industry for numerous years. As a proponent of professional development and life-long learning, she has found the move to the post-secondary sector a fulfilling professional fit.
When not hard at work in the office, Betty enjoys time with her family, adventure travel, and music.
