Welding

Micro-Credential | 1 - Fundamentals of Welding

Cost: $331
Prerequisite: None

Take the first step into the world of welding! This two-day introductory micro-credential provides a foundation in welding safety, industry applications, and the most common welding processes used in today's workplaces, including MIG, Stick (SMAW), TIG (GTAW), Flux-Cored (FCAW), Metal-Cored (MCAW), and Oxy-Fuel Welding and Cutting.

Through classroom instruction, live demonstrations, and supervised shop activities, participants will gain practical insight into the welding trade, develop confidence in a shop environment, and learn the fundamental principles that underpin welding technologies across multiple industries.

Ideal for: Students in agriculture and workers seeking practical welding knowledge; maintenance personnel and equipment operators; hobbyists and DIY enthusiasts; and individuals considering a career in welding or the skilled trades.

Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Students must have their own CSA-approved footwear, 100% cotton long-sleeve shirt and jeans, or coveralls (preferred), and leather welding gloves. A welding helmet and basic hand tools will be supplied. A notebook and pencil are recommended for recording techniques, settings, and observations.

If you do not bring appropriate clothing and footwear, your access to the welding shop will be limited.

Delivery method: In-person
