A federally funded program designed to help Canadian citizens, permanent residents/landed immigrants, convention refugees, or protected persons in Canada who can demonstrate financial need.
Available assistance
Qualified part-time students may be eligible for one or more of the following:
- Canada Student Grants for Part-Time Studies (CSG-PT)
- Canada Student Grant for Persons with Permanent Disabilities (CSG-PD)
- BC Supplemental Bursary for Students with a Permanent Disability - up to $800
- Part-Time Canada Student Loans (PT-CSL)
- Canada Student Grant for Part-time Students with Dependents
Eligibility requirements
You may qualify if you:
- Enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, 20-59% of a full time post-secondary course load (measured by credits per semester)
- Have a family income that falls below the maximum income limits for part-time eligibility
- If you have had previous funding from Canada Student Grants and Loans for part-time studies, you must have successfully completed those study periods
- Not be in default of previous full or part-time Canada Student Loans
What funding covers?
- Tuition and compulsory school fees
- Textbooks and supplies
- Miscellaneous allowance
- Small allowance for local transportation to and from classes
- Allowance for unsubsidized childcare costs incurred to attend classes.
Note: Room and Board costs are not covered
How to apply?
- Create your student account
- Set up a BC Services Card account as your digital ID (includes identity verification).
- Visit the Student Account for part-time students, click "Log in/Register," and follow the guided process.
- Submit Your Application
- Complete and submit the online application through the Student Account for part-time students.
- Read and accept the terms and conditions of the StudentAid BC Declaration and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Consent for income verification.
Application deadlines
- Earliest application: When applications for the upcoming program year are publicly available, usually in June.
- Latest application: No later than 6 weeks before your study period ends.
- You must be accepted and enrolled in your study program before completing your application.
Reminders
- StudentAid BC part-time studies applications are available online through www.StudentAidBC.ca.
- A valid BC Services Card and the BC Services app are required to apply.
- It is strongly recommended to set up your BC Services Card app as soon as possible to avoid system issues or delays when applying.
