Scholarships
Recognizes and support exceptional academic achievement.
- Minimum 3.5 GPA (unless otherwise stated in the scholarship criteria).
- Minimum of two reference letters from those who have first-hand knowledge of your qualities and achievements.
Leadership awards
Recognizes outstanding and unpaid service to the University community and/or the community at large, leadership and volunteer work.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Minimum of two reference letters demonstrating your volunteer service and leadership skills.
Note: For UFV programs that use a non-GPA grading system (e.g. Bachelor of Education and Trades), a credit grade for previous courses will be considered.
Eligibility requirements
- Available to students who are currently enrolled and attending classes at UFV during the current academic year. (September to April).
- Available to international students unless the criteria states for Canadian citizens only.
- Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 credits each term of the current academic year. Students with documented disabilities may be considered full-time at 6 credits per term and must provide a current “Verification of Disability” form from the UFV Centre for Accessibility Services (CAS) confirming their registration with CAS.
- Master's students are considered full-time when enrolled in 6 credits of 700 level courses per term.
- UFV Academic Scholarships require 12 credits per term (24 credits over academic year). Students with documented disabilities who require a minimum of 24 course credits completed over the previous academic years. A current verification of disability from UFV’s Centre for Accessibility Services (CAS) must be submitted.
- Some awards are department-nominated and do not require an application
When to apply?
Applications are accepted once per academic year from:
March 15 - May 10
How to apply?
- Log in to your myUFV account.
- Go to 'Academics/Student'.
- Go to Financial Aid & Awards card and select "Apply for Financial Aid".
- You will see a list of applications and dates. Select "Apply" for Scholarship or Leadership award (these are 2 separate applications).
- Complete the application and "Mark as complete".
Note: The status will list "incomplete" even after marking it as complete. This will change to pending once the required 2 reference letters are received (see Supporting documentation below).
Supporting Documentation
Applications are not complete until supporting documentation (reference letters are required) is either e-mailed as a pdf file to scholarships@ufv.ca or handed into the UFV Financial Aid and Awards office, on or before the application deadline. Please make sure you submit the following:
Scholarships:
- Two current letters of reference (within the last two years) from someone who has first-hand knowledge of your qualities and achievements.
- Any other supporting documentation as per scholarship criteria.
Leadership Awards:
- Two current letters of reference (within the last two years) from someone who has first-hand knowledge of your volunteer service and leadership skills.
- Any other supporting documentation as per leadership criteria.
Award selection process
- Reviewed by UFV Awards Adjudication Committee
- Considerations include, but not limited to:
- Two-term GPA
- Course load
- Reference letters
- Alignment with award criteria
- Students may receive the same award only once. Previous recipients may be considered again if no other eligible students meet the award criteria.
- Only successful applicants will be notified in July via email
