Program description
Today's workplaces, educational institutions, and community organizations need leaders who can foster belonging, address systemic inequities, and create environments where everyone can thrive.
UFV's Adult Education for Equity, Workplace, and Community Transformation certificate gives you the knowledge, skills, and practical tools to lead meaningful change. Through an interdisciplinary and applied approach, you'll examine issues such as equity, diversity, inclusion, decolonization, reconciliation, accessibility, and social justice, while learning how to translate these concepts into action.
You'll explore Indigenous perspectives and decolonizing practices, trauma-informed approaches, and equitable strategies for teaching, facilitating, and leading diverse groups. Along the way, you'll strengthen your ability to design programs, facilitate learning, engage communities, and support organizational change.
Whether you're an educator, manager, public servant, community leader, or a student preparing for a career that requires equity-focused leadership, this certificate helps you build practical expertise that can be applied immediately in professional and community settings.
Most courses are offered online, making it easier to balance your studies with work and other commitments.
Career expectations
Organizations across education, government, healthcare, human resources, non-profit organizations, social services, and the private sector are increasingly seeking employees who can support equity, inclusion, accessibility, reconciliation, and organizational change.
This certificate helps you strengthen your qualifications for roles that involve:

- Employee learning and workplace training
- Community engagement and outreach
- Program development and evaluation
- Adult education and facilitation
- Leadership and people management
- Organizational culture and change management
- Accessibility, reconciliation, and anti-racism work
For current professionals, the certificate provides valuable skills that can support career advancement and leadership opportunities. For students and emerging professionals, it offers a specialized credential that demonstrates your ability to apply equity-informed practices in real-world settings.
Graduates will be better equipped to lead conversations, influence policy and practice, design inclusive programs, and create learning and workplace environments where people feel respected, valued, and supported. The certificate is particularly relevant for those working in education, social services, government, healthcare, human resources, community organizations, and other fields where inclusive leadership is increasingly recognized as an essential professional competency.
