Program description

Sociology and Anthropology studies how people and cultures and societies shape the way we live and think and interact. When you combine Sociology and Anthropology these two fields give a wider broad-based and interdisciplinary viewpoint of the structure of society, cultural variety, and global change. You will reflect on what it means to be human across different ways of life, from small-scale communities to complex global societies.

You'll develop a deeper awareness of your own perspectives and assumptions, and engage with the main theoretical concepts in Sociology and Anthropology, and the major contemporary issues facing the globe today, including globalization, identity and social change.

You will also learn how to develop excellent quantitative and qualitative research skills, learn to analyze complex social issues and communicate findings effectively. The program also fosters an appreciation for Canadian diversity, including First Nations cultures. By the time you graduate, you'll have a broad understanding of society, sharpened cross-cultural awareness, and the research, analysis, and writing skills to think critically about both local and global issues.
