Community Programming and Experience

What we do

UFV's Community Programming and Experience office is responsible for co-creating community programming and supporting the university’s ceremonial recognition and formal university-wide events, as well as events on behalf of the President’s Office and other units, in support of the University’s Strategic Plan.

Formal university-wide events

Convocation

The Community Programming and Experience office supports the June 2023 Convocation being held at the Cascades Athletic Centre on the Abbotsford campus at UFV. The ceremonies include the conferring of academic and honorary degrees.

Installations

The Community Programming and Experience office coordinates the formal installations of the University’s President and Chancellor.

President’s Leadership Lecture Series

The President’s Leadership Lectures Series was established in 2011 with the intent to bring to UFV inspirational leaders to share their ideas, challenge us and perhaps even provoke us. If you would like to suggest a speaker series, please contact our office.

National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women

The UFV remembrance ceremony is held annually on December 6 and is attended by faculty, staff, students, and members of the off-campus community.

UFV Service Excellence Awards

The annual UFV Service Excellence Awards reception celebrates teaching and research excellence, staff excellence, inspirational leadership, and exceptional teamwork.

Donor relations and stewardship events

Annual and special events to recognize members of the community for their support of the university are coordinated in conjunction with the Advancement Office.

The Community Programming and Experience office works closely with various departments on building openings, and program launches.
