Biography

Dr. Christophe Schinckus became Dean of the Faculty of Professional Studies in January 2022. He first joined UFV in April 2021 as Full Professor and Director of the School of Business. He is also Honorary Professor at the University of Leicester (UK). He is the first Dean of the recently created Faculty of Business and Computing.

Chris has a multidisciplinary background and promoted what he called an “undisciplined scientific thinking”. Chris’s research deals with Econophysics, Physics applied to Finance; FinTech & Cryptocurrencies; Energy and Economics, Anthropocene and Finance, Epistemology of Finance and more generally with all aspects of epistemic post-modernism. He published more than 150 papers in peer-reviewed journals and two books on Econophysics (Oxford University Press).

Chris is a Certified Expert in Digital Finance (CEDF) from the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and he holds the CARA certification (Certification of the Canadian Association of Research Administrator). Chris is also a Senior Fellow of the British Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). In parallel to his academic activities, Christophe also collaborates as a research consultant for private companies, such as JPMorgan or Suez Gaz de France - he recently worked with the African Development Bank.

Before joining UFV, Chris gained a teaching and managerial experience in different universities all around the World: Canada (University of Quebec at Montreal); in the UK (London School of Economics and University of Leicester), Australia (RMIT Melbourne); Vietnam (RMIT Vietnam) and Malaysia (Taylor’s University).
