Augie grew up in North Idaho and attended Reed College as an undergraduate. He received his PhD from the Sage School of Philosophy at Cornell University.  Before coming to UFV, Augie held visiting positions in Philosophy at Syracuse University and Philosophy and Data Science at Bryn Mawr College.

Augie’s research interests are mostly in metaphysics and the philosophy of science, with connections to the philosophy of mind, social philosophy, and the history of philosophy. His dissertation contained papers on properties, grounding, and the persistence conditions of social groups. More recent work concerns the metaphysics of the social world and the philosophy of history.
