What is geoscience?

Geoscience is the study of Earth’s interior, its surface, and its atmosphere and climate. Geoscience also includes the study of Earth’s soils, sediments, and natural resources, the rivers, lakes, oceans, and glaciers that occur on its surface, both their distribution and the processes by which they evolve and affect each other. Geoscience also involves the study of ecosystems and how they interact with the other Earth systems. Geoscience is a natural science and draws heavily on other science fields including physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, and geomatics.
