Peer Support

Chat with a Wellness Peer

Drop by the Student Wellness and Experience Lounge (S1111) during business hours to use the space, connect with others, or see if a Wellness Peer is available.

To ensure a Wellness Peer is available to connect with you during the Summer, we recommend scheduling a drop-in time in advance. Please use your UFV email to complete the drop-in scheduling form.

Please use your UFV email to complete the booking form, found here:

UFV Student Wellness

Here’s what your chat will look like:

  • The Wellness Peer will meet you at the front desk of S1111
  • You can choose any available spot within the Student Wellness and Experience Lounge to sit
  • Most chats last between 15 to 30 minutes
  • If further support is required, the Wellness Peer will guide you to a resource that is right for you

We cannot guarantee confidentiality or privacy of meetings as the Student Wellness and Experience Lounge is a shared student space. If you are looking for private or ongoing support, a Student Support Referral may be a better fit for you.

Prospera Peer Pathways: Wellness Peer Support Program

At UFV, we believe in the impact of peer support to foster connection, reduce barriers, and promote well-being. The Prospera Peer Pathways: Wellness Peer Support Program helps students build meaningful experience in student support roles while creating a more connected and caring campus community.

Through this program, students can engage in distinct pathways, each offering training, mentorship, and the chance to make a difference.

Pathways to Peer Support

Wellness Peers

Wellness Peers are student leaders who help make UFV a more welcoming, supportive place to be. Through their presence and programming, they:

  • Offer informal peer support during the Student Wellness and Experience Lounge hours

  • Share helpful wellness tools and connect students with campus resources

  • Lead Connection Groups, host events, and create engaging programming

  • Encourage a culture of care, balance, and mental wellness on campus

Wellness Peers are supported by the Student Wellness team and a Peer Lead who offers guidance, mentorship, and leadership development.

Student Support Peers

Student Support Peers work with the Student Support Centre to provide one-on-one peer mentoring focused on academic skills, university navigation, and student life. A Student Support Peer can help you with:

  • Communicating to instructors and asking for extensions

  • Setting up deadline schedules and goal setting

  • Accountability check-ins and body doubling

Student Support Peers are supported by the Student Support Centre team and a Student Support Navigator who offers guidance, mentorship, and leadership development.

Education Assistants

Education Assistants help foster a culture of consent and care on campus by supporting sexualized violence prevention initiatives. They promote access to workshops, resources, and conversations about consent, healthy relationships, and sexual health.

Thank You, Prospera

The Prospera Peer Pathways: Wellness Peer Support Program is made possible through the generous support of the Prospera Foundation, whose investment in student well-being continues to strengthen peer programming at UFV.

Sometimes when we feel stressed, one of the most helpful things can be venting to someone else. Talking through our issues and sharing feelings can be very impactful, and that is what the Wellness Peers are there for. They are not counsellors; they are students who are going through a similar experience. The Wellness Peers are there to listen and walk alongside you as you navigate your life in university. Talking with friends and family is not always an available or comfortable option. Wellness Peers can be there for you when you feel like you don’t have anyone else to turn to.
