Program Learning Outcomes

  1.  Support decolonization, indigenization, and reconciliation

 Reflect upon one’s role in working towards decolonization, indigenization, and reconciliation and practice cultural humility and safety when engaging with Indigenous Peoples.

  1. Embrace principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion

Engage in anti-racist and anti-oppressive practice with diverse communities and support efforts to promote equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice.

  1. Demonstrate respectful and effective communication

Foster supportive and collaborative relationships with individuals, families, groups, and communities through respectful and effective communication, including written, interpersonal, and intercultural communication skills.

  1. Engage in ethical practice

Recognize one’s biases and the tensions between personal and professional values; demonstrate an understanding of professional ethics, including those related to boundaries, dual relationships, and conflicts of interest; and conduct oneself in a professional manner.

  1. Demonstrate competent practice

Practice within one’s qualifications and demonstrate competence in a range of professional skills, including interviewing, assessment, facilitation, and documentation.

  1. Integrate critical analysis

Demonstrate a critical understanding of social issues and policies to best support individuals, families, groups, and communities and advocate for social change.
