Biography

Heather Williams, M.Ed., PhD Candidate, is an educational leader with over a decade of experience designing Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) programs that strengthen connections between higher education and local communities. She has co-authored provincial online programs for WIL practitioners, facilitated faculty development, and supported curriculum redesign to embed inclusive, experiential learning across disciplines.

At SFU, Heather served as EDI Curriculum Manager and Curriculum Lead for the RESPECT Project, collaborating with Indigenous scholars and working with 19 post-secondary institutions to advance intercultural development,  cultural safety,  and inclusive curriculum initiatives. She has also held leadership roles in the labour movement in healthcare, applying an intersectional lens to provincial committees addressing DRIPA, In Plain Sight, and the TRC Calls to Action.

A PhD Candidate in Educational Theory and Practice at SFU, Heather’s research explores the root causes of polarization and the role of education in fostering connection. Across all her work, she brings a commitment to lifelong learning, cultural humility, and relationship-building to advance UFV’s mission and expand meaningful WIL opportunities for students.
