Campus Card

Terms and conditions

Valid government-issued photo ID is required to obtain a UFV Campus Card.

Accepted government-issued photo ID includes a driver's license, passport, BC identification, BC services card, status card, permanent resident card, or Nexus card, issued in English.

Picture identification presented must match the person, and be in good condition.

Legal name in UFV's records must match the valid government-issued photo ID that is presented.

Two legal last names: if an individual has two legal last names one name must be selected for UFV's records. The legal last name displayed on the government-issued photo ID must match UFV's records.

Need assistance to make a name change?

  • Students are required to visit the Office of the Registrar for all student record changes.
  • Employees are required to visit Human Resources office for all employee record changes. ‌

Picture identification on the Campus Card must match the person presenting the card.

Photos are a full front view of an individual's face and shoulders with no obstructions. Sunglasses, hats, or bandannas are not permitted. Smiles are good however hand gestures or props will not be allowed in the photo. If your face is covered for religious reasons, privacy can be provided for purposes of obtaining a photo for your Campus Card.

Updated photos are required for students and employees when their Campus Card expires. ‌‌

Photo release of an individual will only be released to the individual that appears in the photo.

  • Student and alumni photo requests must be made in-person.
  • Employee photo requests can be made in-person or from the employee's UFV email.
  • For all other photo inquiries contact UFV's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy office at FIPPA@ufv.ca.

Privileges and access to card services are for the cardholder's use only. Campus Cards are the property of the University of the Fraser Valley and must be surrendered to university personnel upon request.

Cards are NOT to be shared. Only the cardholder is authorized to use the funds and services on the Campus Card, no exceptions. 

Cardholders are responsible for all transactions with the library, at participating retailers, and for other card related services, activities, and usage. Only the cardholder is authorized to use the funds and services on the Campus Card; cards are non-transferable.  

‌‌Retailer transaction decrepencies must be resolved by the retailer.

Protection of privacy: card transaction information and history is provided to the cardholder only, upon request. Requests must be made in-person

Validation: meal plans are valid for the time specified to be in compliance with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) tax exemption guidelines. Meal plans are for students only and are GST exempt.

Alcohol: meal plans cannot be used to purchase alcohol on campus.

Purchased amounts: CRA requires meal plans to be purchased in one lump sum. During the semester, while the purchased meal plan is valid, you cannot transfer a portion of the meal plan balance to Cascade Cash.

Prorated: meal plan funds cannot be prorated during the semester. 

End of semester: a $25 admin fee applies to transfer funds to the Cascade Cash at the end of the semester. Remaining balances of less than $25 are forfeited.

Cascade Cash: can be used at any participating retailer on campus (taxes apply).

Alcohol: Cascade Cash cannot be used to purchase alcohol on campus.

Cascade Cash refunds: refunds are only issued to students who have withdrawn or have graduated from UFV. A $25 admin fee applies to process the refund request. Refunds are issued in the cardholder's name and take approximately 4 to 6 weeks to process.  

Admin fees: apply every twelve months to cards that are inactive until the fund balance reaches zero. Depleted accounts will be closed.‌ 

Cardholders are responsible for all transactions until the card is reported lost or stolen to the card office. Once reported, all balances on the card will be frozen.

A replacement fee of $20 applies for cards that are lost or stolen prior to the expiry date on the front of the card. Prices are subject to change.‌

In-person: replacement cards are issued to the cardholder only.

Expired cards: replaced free of charge.  

Lost or stolen cards: a $20 replacement fee applies. 

User damage to a card: a $20 replacement fee applies.

Defective cards: replaced free of charge.‌

UFV department: copy cards have no expiry date.

Community borrower: copy cards expire two years from the date of the last transaction. Expired copy cards are deactivated. Any remaining balances are forfeited.

Continuing Education: copy cards expire two years from the date of the last transaction. Expired copy cards are deactivated. Any remaining balances are forfeited.

Student one-time emergency: copy cards expire in two business days from date of purchase. The copy card is added to the student's account. Expired cards are deactivated. Any remaining balances stay with the student's account and rollover to the next semester.

Card replacement fee: a $20 fee applies for lost, stolen, or user damaged cards (prices are subject to change).

Cascade Cash refunds: are only issued to students who have withdrawn or graduated from UFV. A $25 admin fee applies to process the refund request. Remaining balances of less than $25 are forfeited. Refunds are issued in the cardholder's name and take approximately 4 to 6 weeks to process.

Meal plans: a $25 admin fee applies to transfer funds to Cascade Cash at the end of the semester. Remaining balances of less than $25 are forfeited.

Inactive accounts: a $25 admin fee applies every twelve months to accounts that are inactive until the fund balance reaches zero. Depleted accounts will be closed.

Negative balances: cardholders who have a negative card balance will be notified via their student email. The email will include the card balance along with instructions on how to reload their card.

Cardholders who carry a negative balance for more than 1 week will have a UFV hold placed on their account until the balance reaches zero or greater.
