The Guy Rushton special recognition award honours a graduating student in the School of Culture, Media, and Society (SCMS) who are an advocate, leader, or active in their community.
Guy Rushton was a mature student in his 60s who was active in student politics at UFV in the early 1990s. Known as part of a group of “rabble rousers,” he was intellectually curious and not afraid to challenge senior management or the Board of Directors. He was active in student life, his community, and was especially engaged in challenging “the status quo.” After completing his BA at UFV, he began graduate studies at UBC before illness prevented him from continuing.
