Biography

Dr. Elizabeth Dennis has been a dedicated member of the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) community for over thirty years. During her time at UFV, she has served in a number of leadership roles, including Special Projects Advisor to the Provost, Associate Dean of Arts, and Department Head of the School of Culture, Media and Society (SCMS).

She has also contributed widely to institutional life, serving on the Board of Governors, the Research Ethics Board, the Interim Graduate Studies Committee, and the Faculty & Staff Association executive. In recognition of her long-standing service and contributions, she was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus upon retirement.

Dr. Dennis continues to teach part-time, with a particular interest in online pedagogy and courses focused on education and family. Her research explores the intersections of social class and gender, and she holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Toronto.

Research Interests

Dr. Dennis received her PhD from the University of Toronto. Her research interests are in the area of family and gender, with a focus on parenting and popular culture.  She teaches in the areas of family, gender and social theory. A number of her courses are taught fully online.
